The Nabucco is a brooch handmade in Paris (France), showcasing the Hebomoia Leucippe butterfly mounted on an Japanese Mokuba ribbon.

Each of the butterfly's imperfection is underlined in this collection by our gold leaf brush, which has been guided by the veins, reliefs and scratches.

This collection Les Ephémères is inspired by the art of Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), which is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, notably. This method is a poetic metaphor for embracing flaws and imperfections.

Hebomoia Leucippe in a few words

This butterfly is a member of the Pieridae. This family includes specimens that are generally medium-sized, with white, yellow or orange shades and are often marked with small dark spots. The family comprises more than a thousand species, including Pieris brassicae commonly called the "Cabbage White", which can be observed in French gardens and meadows in spring.

Less widespread than its close cousin Hebomia Glaucippe, H. Leucippe is endemic to the Moluccas and Peneng Islands in the north of the Indonesian archipelago. Definitely important in terms of biodiversity, these islands see the crossbreeding of Asian-influenced species in the west and Australian-oceanic species in the east. This demarcation is symbolized by the "Wallace Line", a biogeographic boundary symbolically separating these two worlds.

Species of the genus Hebomoia are fearful by nature, and wield the art of camouflage despite their imposing size. Their weight also forces them to spread their wings in a balancing act to achieve flight when they feed on the nectar of flowers.

Where does Hebomoia Leucippe live?

It can be seen in Indonesia, on some islands in the center of the archipelago.

As our pieces use real butterflies, the dimensions mentioned can only be indicative, although we select butterflies as close as possible to these dimensions.
